There seems to be a considerable amount of cold calling at the moment.
(Cold callers are those who arrive at our doors unsolicited.)
The police advise us not to engage them in work, or to allow them access to our properties.
Legitimate visitors will have identification and can be checked by calling their companies.
Don't let people you are not sure of into your home and please remember not to divulge any personal details to strangers, however convincing they may be.
If you are at all concerned please ring Dorset Police on 101 as soon as possible.
Friday 27th January
We
would stress that your vigilance should continue where door to door
sellers are concerned and we still advise not to engage with traders
without a prior appointment enabling you to check their crudencials
prior to their visiting.
We received reports yesterday that a
male called on a property in the Purbeck area stating he worked for
Synergy Housing.It was later established that this was not the
case..Always ask for ID from any official on the door step and request a
telephone number so that you can establish who they are from the
company/agency direct.
Continue with
your vigilance and remember to use check a trade should you require the
reassurance that a company/trader is reputable.
A Silver Ford Transit with 3 males on board was seen acting suspicious
in the area of Foxhills Rd,Lytchett Matravers yesterday approximately
1540hrs.Vehicle was possibly looking for scrap metal.

Saturday 28th January. This is a blanket broadcast informing you of multiple incidents.
Firstly,we
would kindly request that should you find yourself witnessing any event
which may be of interest to the POLICE,please can you report it as soon
as it is physically possible.There have been a couple of incidets
recently whereby as a result of delayed reporting,the police response
has not been as successful as it perhaps could have been.Thank you.
The
first incident i would like to refer to is incident number I28:0257
which refers to possible bogus callers in the Upton area.Information is
being received that persons are collecting for Macmillan charity Bike
ride.Macmillan were contacted by a member of the Public to query the
collection and they were informed that the bike ride does not happen
until July.Should you receive a visit from someone collecting,may be
worth querying why they are collecting so early or indeed ring Macmillan
to check the facts.
Second incident is I28:0197 which details an
incident involving two males wondering around the hospital car park in
Wareham at around 11am Fridayy 27th January.The males took scrap metal
out of the skip at that location and drove off in a white van.If you
have information then please give the Police a ring.
Third
incident is Theft Of Oil from an address in East Morden overnight on
Friday 27th January.Nothing seen or heard but offenders took £500 worth
of heating fuel from tank situated on driveway.Please take this
opportunity to assess current security measures on oil tanks which are
proving to be a target in such harsh economic times.Should you require
any Crime Prevention Advice then please give your Safer Neighbourhood
Team a ring.
And,finally an incident occured today at
approximately 1400hrs in Swanage town centre.2 gold bracelets have been
stolen from a jewellers by two males described as male 1. tall,large
build with short black hair wearing blue sweatshirt and black
trousers.Quite a distinctive ring on his finger,large gold ring with an
animals head on it and hanging pendent disc.
Second male-slight
build,clean shaven,black jacket and trousers.Both spoke with foreign
accent and said they were from Madrid but didnt speak Spanish..?? They
appeared to speaking another accent.
