Camp Bestival Traffic

 Camp Bestival takes place at Lulworth Castle between Thursday 26 and Sunday 29 July 2012.


Please find attached details of the temporary traffic orders due to Camp Bestival for the one-way system around East Lulworth village and the reduction of the speed limit.  The footpaths through Lulworth Castle will temporarily be closed too. There will also be a reduction in the speed limit from Burngate Cottages to Wool for 30^th July. See attached letter for more details.

Temporary Traffic Management Order – Camp Bestival event, East Lulworth

Dear all,

I have received an application from Camp Bestival Ltd to prepare two Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders to coordinate traffic and pedestrian management arrangements for the forthcoming Camp Bestival event.  The first Order will effect a safe traffic management plan, and minimise the disruption caused by the event.  This will create a temporary “one-way” system around East Lulworth village, temporarily reduce the speed limit, and extend the existing clearway around the village.  The second Order will temporarily close footpaths through the event site, for safety and security reasons.

The Camp Bestival event itself will take place at Lulworth Castle between Thursday 26 and Sunday 29 July 2012.

Traffic Management Order:

The following items will be in place from 23.59hrs, Monday 23 July 2012 until 23.59hrs, Wednesday 01 August 2012:

1.       a one-way system on the B3070 in East Lulworth, from its junction with Whiteway (the road to Tyneham village) at the western end of the village, to its junction with The Triangle (one-way eastbound);

2.       a temporary 20mph speed limit on the B3070 in East Lulworth between the existing 30mph speed limit through the village;

3.       a temporary 40mph speed limit on the B3070 from the “Military bypass” westwards to the deregulation signs in East Lulworth;

4.       a temporary 40mph speed limit on the B3070 and the “Military bypass” from Burngate junction to Botany Farm;

Two further items will be in place from 23.59hrs, Sunday 29 July 2012 until 23.59hrs, Monday 30 July 2012:

1.       a temporary 40mph speed limit on the B3071 from Burngate junction to the deregulation signs at Wool;

2.       a temporary one-way system on New Buildings Road, between the B3071 and the A352 at Burton Cross roundabout (one-way north bound).

Please note that these items will be enforced at the discretion of the Event Traffic Manager, in the case of severe congestion.

Rights of Way Order:

The following items will be in place from 23.59hrs, Monday 23 July 2012 until 23.59hrs, Wednesday 01 August 2012:

1.       the temporary closure of Footpath number SE 13 / 2 (East Lulworth)

2.       the temporary closure of Footpath number SE 13 / 3 (East Lulworth)

3.       the temporary closure of Footpath number SE 10 / 4 (Coombe Keynes)
